The Kamiak PTO partners with Kaplan Test Prep (a national company) to help prepare students for their college entrance exams. This partnership also raises money — all of which goes to scholarships for seniors pursuing their educations beyond high school, and also to improve teaching and learning for all Kamiak students in all grades via school-wide grants. In 2019, we awarded $8,500 in scholarships, and $5,000 in school-wide grants to benefit all students. So thanks to all the families who’ve had their students take such a smart step, while at the same time supporting education at Kamiak High School!
We partner with Kaplan in two ways:
Full-length Mock SAT and ACT Tests
Throughout the school year, we offer full-length mock SAT and ACT tests. These mock tests are identical to the actual college entrance exams, and they are professionally proctored and scored. The only difference is, the scores

are not reported anywhere. So it’s the absolute best, no-risk way for students to get a very accurate idea of what the real test experience is like, and how they’ll perform on the actual test, and if they would benefit from further preparation to raise their scores. And perhaps most important of all, these mock tests offer a no-risk way for students to figure out which test — the SAT or the ACT — is a better fit for their test-taking style.
These mock tests are publicized through our Kamiak PTO emails, here on this page of our website, and via Kamiak High School’s weekly email ListServ messages. All mock test fees are $30 for students who preregister and $35 for walk-ups but space is not guaranteed and 100% of all the proceeds go right back to Kamiak students. We almost always offer the mock tests on Friday, early dismissal days, right after school.
NOTE: We accept cash, checks, and credit cards (via PayPal.) Please make checks out to Kamiak PTO. Enclose cash or check in a sealed envelope clearly marked with your student’s name and dropped off in the office.

Kaplan Test Prep
Additionally, Kaplan Test Prep offers its prep courses a few times a year at Kamiak High School, and the PTO earns a small commission on these courses and funds are used to scholarship awards. These courses are open to any student, including non-Kamiak students. These intensive prep courses help prepare students to take the real SAT or ACT during their junior year, and Kaplan guarantees a score increase. These prep courses are publicized through the same sources as our mock tests.
